Hojicha-Style Chai Latte

Hojicha is a roasted green tea and it adds a rich, nutty and chocolate note to this indulgent chai latte.

Ingredients
- 1 Chai tea bag
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) boiling water
- 3/4 cup (175 mL) oat milk
- 2 tsp (10 mL) honey or agave syrup
- 1 tsp (5 mL) hojicha powder
- 1/4 cup (60 mL) hot water
- Pinch of cinnamon for garnishing
Directions
- Transfer tea bag to large mug. Pour in 1/2 cup (125 mL) boiling water. Steep for 3 to 4 minutes; discard tea bag.
- Meanwhile, using a countertop milk frother, heat oat milk until foamed and frothy. (Alternatively, heat oat milk and whip with handheld frother until foamed and frothy.)
- Stir honey into mug of tea. Pour frother oat milk over chai.
- In a small bowl, whisk together hojicha powder and 1/4 cup (60 mL) of hot water. Pour over chai latte. Garnish with cinnamon.
Tips
- For an iced hojicha-style chai latte: steep tea and let cool completely. Combine hojicha powder with hot water and let cool completely. Froth oat milk with countertop frother on cold setting. Fill tall glass with ice. Add chilled chai, frother oat milk and hojica mixture. Garnish with pinch of cinnamon.
